The piano playing of Benoît Delbecq with electronic assistance and obstacles by Steve Argüelles. A performance recording where the raw sources are transmuted into layers of delay, loops and further mutations, which then provide new backings for the piano to play over (and so on and so). Six tracks clocking in at thirty-three minutes. Completely on its own in the plush catalogue to date. No beats or breaks. melodic, evocative and inventive.
Si l'on songe à Cage pour la transformatien du son, à Feldman pour les accords en miroir et à Pierre Henry pour la dimension acoustique via l'électronique, en revanche il faut citer également Conlon Nancarrow et György Ligeti pour le traitement polyrythmique. Des références qui, de toute manière, n'encombrent pas Benoît Delbecq sur une voie toute tracée : la sienne. 2nd edition 1st paperback edition was published in 2001 |
