Biography of Kevin Fitzsimmons

At around the age of five Kevin first discovered the American songbook, singing Pennies from Heaven accompanied by his father, whose constant renditions on piano of Gershwin, Porter and Berlin were to leave an irreversible impression. By his early twenties, Kevin found himself in the company of and performing with other like minded aficionados. Their profound knowledge and musicianship helped forward his studies. These included the late American saxophonist Spike Robinson, John Critchinson (piano accompanist with Ronnie Scott), and bass player Lennie Bush, who sessioned with Frank Sinatra on his album “Great Songs from Great Britain”. Kevin Fitzsimmons has performed at a huge variety of venues ranging from world class hotels, corporate events, jazz clubs, stately homes & chateaux, museums, TV companies, racecourses, an airshow and a premiership football match; his long list of clients includes media giant NBC Universal for a private party, and Anschutz Entertainment Group, owners of the 02 Arena, for a private event to celebrate their acquisition of the venue. Media work has included a launch for the prestigious brand Hermes-Paris; vocals for the San Pellegrino ‘Dinner at Eight’ radio advertising campaign aired nationwide in the USA; and a television advertising campaign for Price-Drop TV. A highlight was performing for a V.I.P. private client at The Ritz hotel attended by H.R.H The Prince of Wales and other European royalty. Stars from the world of show business and sport who have personally booked Kevin include, actress and EastEnders star Samantha Janus for her celebrity-studded wedding featured in OK! Magazine, and England footballer Glen Johnson for a charity dinner in aid of Make-A-Wish children’s charity. Kevin’s band are headline and award winning session musicians in their own right,have performed with some of the biggest music legends of our time and have performed everywhere from Ronnie Scott‘s to The Royal Albert Hall, as well as at the major International Jazz Festivals. Celebrities worldwide and crowned heads of Europe are among the many who have enjoyed their wonderful talents.

London born Kevin’s main musical influences are: Mark Murphy, Mel Torme, Sinatra, Johnny Mercer, Billy Strayhorn and Lorenz Hart.
