Premières Formes was mostly recorded in one single session. The original intention was to offer the listener the feeling of a live performance. This album is the testimony of the group's musical development. The track "La chambre rouge" in fact reminds us of the "pre-Ovale Trio", with a composition for two vibraphones that the duo originally comissioned to the Swiss composer Christian Giger. The tracks "Novitango" and "Oblivion" pay a tribute to the artist (Piazzolla) without whom the trio would never have formed in the first place. And finally, by serving "Lunch", the trio salutes and thanks the person who has influenced their music and artistic direction: David Friedman, the extraordinary vibes-marimba player and composer. |
