Biography of Northern Sinfonia

October 2008 marked the start of Northern Sinfonia's 50th Anniversary Season, its fourth full season as the orchestra of The Sage Gateshead, its own spectacular Norman Foster designed home for music. The orchestra travels widely too with regular appearances at other leading venues and festivals throughout the world. Northern Sinfonia is frequently broadcast by the BBC and also has a partnership with Classic FM. Recent recordings include the highly praised Brahms and Schumann CD - chosen by BBC Music magazine as 'Disc of the Month' under the heading "Zehetmair's daring success" - and Mozart Piano Concertos with Imogen Cooper, also recorded at The Sage Gateshead, which won five star reviews in Classic FM magazine and The Sunday Telegraph.
