Human Equivalent is the on-going fusion project of saxophonist and composer Leah Gough-Cooper. Formed in 2007, the first line-up was a quartet of Leah, Ant Law - guitar, Kevin Glasgow - bass, and Calum McIntyre - drums.
Human Equivalent was expanded to a quintet in 2008 with the addition of Alan Benzie on keys, and the line-up changed to musicians who were all students in Boston MA at the world-famous Berklee College of Music: Leah, Serghio Jansen - guitar, Alan Benzie - piano, rhodes, keys, Martin Nessi - bass, and Patrick Kunka - drums.
Human Equivalent recently featured at the 2009 London Jazz Festival, and as a still further augmented 8-piece outfit Human Equivalent East - adding trumpet, tenor sax and a second percussionist - at the 2009 Chiayi International Band Festival in Chiayi City, Taiwan.
