Biography of Remote Viewers (The)

The Remote Viewers started out as a three-way conversation in the front of a van driving through Europe in 1997, on tour with a band called B. Shops for the Poor. Adrian was driving; Louise had to sit in the front because of travel sickness; I don't know why I was there. We thought it would be good to perform just the sax trio pieces, which we played with B. Shops, at a few gigs in London. By the time that the first gig came around, we had added some unaccompanied vocals; before long, backing tapes and electronics were introduced. We were a very insular trio - any suggestion of adding a new member was met with absolute horror. 5 CDs were made for the Leo label (Leo was a neighbour of ours in South London), and one indepenently; small tours and festivals were played.
It wasn't music that finally split up the trio - it was personal. Louise left me, and the music. For a while, nothing happened. Then, slowly, a new Remote Viewers evolved. Firstly, Caroline joined, and we performed as a sax trio: then Sue joined, and we were a sax quartet - the highlight of these incarnations for me being an endless version of "Silent Weapons for a Quiet War" live on Resonance Radio! When we finally started thinking about recording the growing backlog of compositions, we chose to invite other musicians to contribute - this resulted in the 5 CD set, "Control Room". Among those who contributed was John, who should have been in the van at the band's conception, but was by then too busy. For the next release, "Sinister Heights", we used real drummers for the first time. It was John, who suggested recording a CD with a set line-up, which could then go out and perform the material live. Mark was the final piece of the
jigsaw.
