Biography of Mark Anderson
Professional musician, music researcher, composer, producer and teacher Marco Anderson has been in the music industry for 3 decades. He has been a member of the PRS/MCPS Alliance since 1983. Anderson is the owner of the music label Foxy Productions (PPL member) and MD and Producer at Andersonshelta Digital Studio. As a drummer, guitarist and keyboard player, Marco Anderson has recorded and performed with an extremely wide array of musicians in varied genres. They include saxophonist George Brooks, sarangi player Surinder Sandhu, Tony Roberts, Paul Dunmall, Tony McPhee, John Serry, Steve Vai, Antonio Forcione, Andy Sheppard and many others. Anderson is currently a member of Antonio Quijano's spontaneous composition Quartet and until recently, drummer with the legendary progressive rock group The Groundhogs, with whom he toured in 2008 on the Classic Legends of Rock's UK Tour along with Wishbone Ash and Focus. He is the drummer for the remarkable fusion band Bird Architects whose 2009 album "Gone" received widespread praise.
At the time of this writing, Anderson has been invited to present a lecture on John McLaughlin's music at the International Festival de la Guitarra in Cordoba, Spain. He is Associate Editor of the new book on Mclaughlin, 'Follow Your Heart' - Song by Song by Walter Kolosky (Abstract Logix Books), who's music he has been studying for over 30 years. As a member of the Wild Strings Quartet, Anderson recorded several McLaughlin compositions and a tribute tune which appeared on the groups' eponymous album. The Wild Strings arrangement of the Mahavishnu Orchestra's 'Trilogy' appears on the Mahavishnu Redefined CD (ESC Records 2009).
