A collection of original material, drawing on elements of Jordanous’ primary influences; Roy Hargrove, Mike Brecker, Wynton Marsalis and Miles Davis, combined with the more contemporary sounds of Till Bronner, Joshua Redman, Christian Scott and The Mason Brothers Band, aiming to create an individual and atmospheric sound through the approach of both composed and improvised performance
"And Now I Know.." is the eagerly awaited new album from trumpeter Paul Jordanous, his first under his own name, having previously appeared on over 20 released albums, including with the Clark Tracey Sextet, David Essex, Scott McKeon, Baker Brothers, Soundspecies & Atomic Hooligan.

Reviews |
26/12/2011 Steve Scarborough "It's Just Jazz" Californian Radio KZFR 90.1 FM | The debut album "And Now I Know" from The Paul Jordanous Ensemble features eight original pieces penned by trumpeter Jordanous. The writing is fresh and contemporary and Jordanous has arranged the material intelligently for a variety of voicings--the ensemble ranges from a sextet to a nonet and the group delivers beautiful playing throughout.
Do yourself a favor and wrap your ears around "And Now I Know." When you finish, in addition to saying, "Wow" you will be tempted to say, "And Now I Know."
| 12/12/2011 Joshua Jennings www.britishjazzblog.com | Paul Jordanous Ensemble - And Now I Know
Any release that boasts mercury nominated Kit Downes on the piano is going to make the jazz community sit up and pay attention. Paul Jordanous's debut release boasts not only Downes but also some of the other finest musicians on the UK jazz scene.
Trumpeter Jordanous has written eight original compositions for the record and I have to say they are some of the coolest and most stylish sounding to have been released in the last year.
A great blend of styles and rich dynamics mean that the album takes you on a real musical journey. Definetly one to sit down with a beer and listen to from start to finish. |
