Biography of Antonio Ragosta

Antonio Ragosta was born in Naples on 14th July 1979.
He is a multi-instruments-player musician and he started playing guitar when he was 13.
In 1996 he started studying musical theory and instrumental practise.
In 2001 he moved to Rome and he started studying with prestigious music teachers like: Umberto Fiorentino, Fabio Zeppetella, Maurizio Lazzaro, Stefano Micarelli, Corrado Paonessa, Danilo Rea, Paolo Damiani, Vincenzo Caporaletti, Roberto Spadoni, Antonio Jasevoli, Eugenio Colombo.
At the same time he began a large range of concerts performing with many different bands and cooperating with a large number of Italian and foreign musicians; his style ranges from jazz to pop, rock and Italian pop music.
In 2009 he passed the academic degree of 1st level in writing and arranging big jazz bands at Licinio Refice Music Academy in Frosinone.
At present he is graduating in jazz at Santa Cecilia Music Academy in Rome.
In 2005 he started being musician and co-arranger of the singer and songwriter Gerardo Casiello with whom he recorded the album "Contrada Casiello" which went on to be a finalist of the prestigious Premio Tenco in 2010. He was a guest for important stage-sets with Casiello, among them: the European Jazz Expò in 2011, the Auditorium "Parco della Musica" and the historical Blue Note in Milan.
Furthermore he was with Contrada Casiello as a guest in a famous television programme "Parla con Me" on RAI 3 hosted by Serena Dandini in 2010.
Moreover the never ending musical and cultural research drives him to enhance technical and expressive skills of other cordophone instruments part of different musical traditions, like: Oud, Portuguese guitar and at the same time during his last ten years cooperating with Pape Siriman Kanouté; "Griot" a Senegalese musician in Italy of the South- Saharan African musical culture.
The artistic career of Antonio Ragosta is characterized by an endless activity of his composition connected to a huge part in his first record label work : "Il mare e l´incanto a Roma Est"
