"Theo Travis has the kind of tenor sound I thought I'd never hear again, at least not from a contemporary player performing his own material. Imagine a cross between Stan Getz and Wayne Shorter, as they both were in the mid -60' s, and it will give you a rough idea.The sound is warm and rounded , with the occasional wisp of breath at the edges.The whole outfit sounds poised, relaxed and beautifully modulated."

"Theo's most recent studio album, Secret Island features 8 original Travis compositions including slow blues tracks, lyrical shimmering ballads and explosively volatile numbers all composed with Theo's great ear for melody (Birmingham Post) The album features ex Soft Machine guitarist extraordinaire John Etheridge. The album features a track called The Crow Road inspired by the Iain Banks novel. Iain Banks himself has said he is honoured by and particularly likes the composition. Following the release of the album the Theo Travis Band undertook a 30 date UK tour and in October 1998 his quartet continued the massive Secret Island tour with 13 dates around the Scottish Highlands and Islands visiting 5 remote Scottish Islands, including the first ever jazz gig on the tiny island of Iona.
