Biography of Siobhan Pettit

Originally from Clonmel in Co.Tipperary, Ireland, Siobhan began her career singing folk music but was introduced to jazz while in New York studying with Mike Mitchell in Carnegie Hall.

Since her return from the States in 1991, she has been kept busy working with her own jazz quintet, a 9-piece big band called Nightswing and the 15-piece Ulster Dance Orchestra as well as T.V. and studio session work.

Siobhán now lives in Belfast with her husband, bass player andmusical director Rod Patterson.

Long Ago Tomorrow, an album of Burt Bacharach songs, is Siobhan's fourth recording. Her own label - Tfor3 is currently negotiating licensing/distribution deals for Long Ago Tomorrow throughout Asia, Europe, Canada and the US.

Siobhán has performed extensively throughout Ireland. When not touring she offers vocal tuition as part of 'The Music Workshop' project based in Belfast. Recent performances include: Concert in The National Concert Hall Dublin with her Quartet; Performance with her 9-piece swing band at Bangor Harbour; Concert and live recording in the Lisburn Museum; Concert with Nightswing Big Band in The Ulster Hall, Belfast; Performance in The National Concert Hall Dublin with Prof. Peter O'Brien; Concert at The City Hall, Belfast for President Clinton's 1995 visit; Support to Peter Skellern, Hue & Cry, Mary Coughlan and Jimmy Sommerville; St Patrick's Day Concert in Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

Recent festival appearances include: Cork Jazz Festival, Holywood Jazz Festival, Derry Jazz & Blues Festival, Howth Jazz Festival, Belfast Festival At Queens, Strabane Arts Festival, Newtownabbey Arts Festival, The Bob Dixon Festival, and the Walled City Festival in Londonderry.

Recent T.V. appearances include: Kelly (U.T.V.), John Daly Show (BBCNI), The Late Late Show, Gerry Ryan Tonight, Pat Kenny Show, Bibi, Live At Three (R.T.E.), Anderson On The Box (B.B.C.) Recent Radio Spots: Walter Love's jazz radio programme on Radio Ulster involving a 40min interview featuring songs from 'Verse & Chorus'. Candy Devine's programme on Downtown Radio. George Jones programme on Radio Ulster. Children In Need - BBC(NI) 'BBC Music Live' - 2 live songs and interview with John Bennett. Pat Kenny's Radio Show on RTE1, Frankly Anne-Marie Show, John Bennett's morning show on Radio Ulster.

Television/Studio Backing Vocals: Siobhan provided backing vocals on Van Morrison's recent album - 'Down The Road'. Other artists she has worked with include Heather Small, Ruby Turner, Englebert Humperdink, Leo Sayer, Brian Kennedy, Maura O'Connell, David Soul, Petula Clarke, Michael Bolton, Francis Black, Cara Dillon, Ronan Tynan.
