Biography of Cathie Rae
Cathie Rae is the eldest of a family of 6 talented Scottish Musicians which include her brother John of Celtic Feet and Brian Kellock Trio. Her father Ronnie is still one of the UK's best profession jazz bassist. Cathie launched her debut CD "Time Out" (JBS01) on her own record label, Jazz Base Scotland, supporting jazz legend Sheila Jordan. A 20-date tour of Scotland followed supported by the Scottish Arts Council's pilot touring Scheme. The first jazz singer to be supported by this scheme. She then released the Rae Sisters EP, JBS02, both available via Jazz CDs.
Cathie's influences include singers such as Ricky Lee Jones, Chet Baker, Bob Dorough, Carmen McRae, Shirley Horne, Nat King Cole and Nancy Wilson. She is confident, classy and equally comfortable with her trio featuring Graeme Scott (g) or fronting her fabulous sextet which features Paul Harrison (p) and Martin Kershaw (s) as well as some of the best young talent from Scotland.

She was brought up in the true jazz tradition by her jazz bass playing father and a mother who was a music teacher.
Cathies new CD, sponsored in part by the Scottish Arts Council, features Steve Hamilton and Martin Kershaw as well as bassist, Aidan ODonnell, drummer John Blease and guitarist Graeme Scott and is again produced by her partner Julian Arguelles.
