"The Quartet consists of four excellent musicians who are Joe Robinson, John Donaldson, Simon Thorpe, and Spike Wells located in England. Review: When I first listened to WHILE I'M WAITING, I thought, this is a quartet that has perfect harmony together as a playing unit. By the third listening, I reached the conclusion this is one of England's hidden secrets -- a great jazz sound that knows the ins and outs and beauty of straight-ahead/classic jazz. WHILE I'M WAITING features 6 songs with a total playing time of 40:17 minutes. The solo work is outstanding, and the group work is outstanding. Joe Robinson reveals his fine gifts as a fine jazz composer with several of these original songs. The songs are: "Voyage" (Kenny Barron), "Something New" (Joe Robinson), "In Time" (Joe Robinson), "While I'm Waiting" (Joe Robinson), "The Hare" (Joe Robinson), and "Penelope" (Wayne Shorter). "The Hare" is an inventive, imaginative composition that will delight the listeners. The Joe Robinson Quartet is a fine jazz sound to savor and be entertained by, and their WHILE I'M WAITING is fine jazz music. Very enjoyable."
