Ben Castle's new album "Blah Street" is the result of almost two years of writing and recording. It is Ben's most personal album to date and takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride through the influences and sounds Ben has experienced so far in his musical career. From the Rock influenced riffs of "Accident Waiting For Something To Happen" and "The Stalker" through the soundscape experimentation of "Everything I Could Have Said" to the cheeky youthful playfulness of "Are You Sitting Comfortably" this album really gives the listener a true insight to the character and personality of Ben Castle. Ben's composition "The Heckler" has already won the gold prize in this year's American "International Song Writing Competition" and was voted for by a panel of jazz experts including one of Ben's heros Pat Metheny. The album is a complete work that flows in a similar way to some of the legendary concept albums of the 60s and 70s, but with a totally fresh and modern sound that pushes the boundaries of jazz yet further. |
