Chris Wells
Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music And Drama in 1990, Chris has recorded and performed throughout Europe with Paul McCartney, Luciano Pavarotti, Carla Bley & Steve Swallow, Robert Plant, Andy Sheppard, Randy Brecker, Nelson Rangell, John Harle, Charlie Wood, Karl Jenkins, Maria Friedman, London Sinfonietta, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal National Theatre as wel l as numerous film soundtracks, television and radio broadcasts.
His new international quartet includes two of Brazil's finest musicians, Walmir Gil and guitarist Webster Santos, plus Memphis Hammond ace Charlie Wood . Chris' playing was featured on the new album by Daude, "Neguinha Te Amo" (REALWORLD) and he also recently worked with Clara Morena.
As a composer, he was awarded 3rd place and Highly Commended in the Latin and World Music sections respectively of the 1997 UNISONG International Song Contest for the songs Samba da Ponte & Atabaque, both co-written with Monica Vasconcelos, and he continues to pursue a parallel career as a writer of TV and film music.
