Biography of Tony Smith

Following nearly twenty-five years in the US and Canada, Tony Smith arrived on the London scene in the late 80's and immediately established himself as a guitarist with a unique sound and voice. He went on to win the MOBO award for 'Best Jazz Act' for his work with the Jazz Steppers, before becoming the featured guitarist with the legendary vibist Roy Ayers. Having worked with some of the top names on the contemporary music scene, he is now thought to be one of the top guitarists of the jazz-funk/fusion genre. His critically acclaimed new album 'Loyalty' features the stellar line-up of Ian Shaw, Jason Rebello, Sarah-Jane Morris, Jerry Brown and many more and will be launched in May at the 606 and Pizza Express Jazz Clubs.
