Biography of Julie Dunn

….relatively new on the jazz scene but over the past several years has been steadily building a following in South West UK where she now lives, and across the country. After completing an MA in Jazz Improvisation and the Vocalist, formed first band First Circle and began regular gigging… late ‘90s sang on JSN workshops with Mark Murphy & the late Marion Montgomery; performed in Joe’s Bebop Café in Chicago with trumpeter Ray Butcher 2004.
Debut album strange but true released November 2004 to much acclaim:
“Dunn possesses a rich vocal timbre, big range and an idiosyncratic vibrato that is used to effect on end words. She can also conjure up some wonderful backing vocal arrangements. The singer receives some excellent support from her pool of musicians..”
