Reviews |
01/01/1998 Jazz Rag | 'Mountains of Fire' is the debut release from one of Britain's most established jazz/MOR pianists, Geoff Eales. With influences that include Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarrett, Eales is a wonderfully entertaining player who can swing or smooch at the drop of a hat. Geoff is heard here both with his piano trio featuring Roy Babbington and Mike Smith and, in three tracks, with the innovative saxophonist Nigel Hitchcock, bassist Laurence Cottle and drummer Ian Thomas. "A debut album that radiates warmth, energy and invention" |
