Biography of Malcolm Earle-Smith
A graduate of Exeter University and the Guildhall School of Music, Malcolm’s performing experience spans many styles of jazz and pop music. After spending four years with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Malcolm has gone on to work with many jazz artists including Kenny Baker, John Dankworth, Jack Parnell, Digby Fairweather, Henry Lowther and Tina May. He has also toured with soul artists Martha Reeves and Ronnie Spector. In 1999 Malcolm recorded and toured extensively with Bryan Ferry. He appears on Ferry’s album, ‘As Time Goes By’
Malcolm has released two albums of his own: ‘Lyric Trombone’ (Malcolm Earle-Smith Quartet, 1996), and ‘Things are looking up’ (Vox City 5, 2008), on which he features both as trombonist, vocalist and composer.
Malcolm is a highly respected teacher and is now Senior Lecturer in Jazz at Trinity College of Music, London.
