‘Sometime Ago’, showcases Gill’s vocal talents to the full. She uses the classic jazz trio format on all the songs except on her cover of The Beatles’ ‘Here There and Everywhere’, sung as a duet with pianist Malcolm Edmonstone. The songs range from ballads - ‘Never let me go’ and ‘Sometime Ago’ – through to punchy, swinging versions of ‘Softly as the Morning Sunrise’ and ‘Star Eyes’.
Trevor Tomkins and Malcolm Edmonstone provided the arrangements giving new twists to tracks including ‘S Wonderful’, ‘Star Eyes’ and Sting’s ’Fragile’. |
