Biography of Full Circle

Full Circle first appeared on the scene late last year when one of their early recordings was featured on New Jazz Wales, Vol. 1, (The first and only overview of the Welsh jazz scene) and immediately began creating music of an expressive, exciting and unpredictable manner. Having met at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama they confidently draw upon their training in classical and jazz music whilst also incorporating their passion for contemporary composition, the avant-garde, world music, rock and dance, bringing a fresh new edge to the world of jazz and free improvisation.
Formed in April 2003 by pianist Dave Stapleton, multi-instrumentalist Deri Roberts, bassist Matthew Lovett and drummer Elliott Bennett, Full Circle have recently enjoyed the support of jazz legend Keith Tippett (one of the leading figures in contemporary British music and European jazz). The two live concerts they performed with the maverick provide a substantial part of their début album alongside concentrated studio sessions. Keith Tippett first introduced the members of Full Circle to the world of free improvisation while at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and continues to inspire them with his passion and dedication to the art form, helping the group to think beyond the generic traditions of jazz and find a sound that is distinctly their own.
