Biography of Mosaic

In 2004, Ben Thomas (Trumpet), Brian Waite (Piano) and Erika Lyons (Double bass) joined forces to form the trio "Mosaic". Our aim was to collectively break down conventional structures whilst exploring the boundaries of space and time in music. We released our debut album "Equinox" in August 2005 and subsequently embarked on a promotional tour of Cathedrals throughout the UK.

In 2006 Brian Waite sadly passed away. Both myself and Erika feel very fortunate to have worked with such an extraordinary musician and he remains to be a great source of inspiration for us.

Myself and Erika have continued to perform as "Mosaic" and we released our second album "Lament" in January 2008. As a duo we have delved deeper into the possibilities of space and time in music and have been able to develop these principles even further through regular performances in Cathedrals and Churches. These inspirationally acoustic settings are very important to our music making as they provide us with the perfect backdrop for our ideas.
