Biography of Panacea

Robert Mitchell has twice been nominated for the BBC JAZZ Awards - winning as part of the F-ire collective in 2004 (Innovation). He has played with Norma Winstone, Steve Coleman, Greg Osby, Courtney Pine, Vaughan Hawthorne-Nelson, Steve Williamson, J-Life, Quite Sane, I.G Culture, Silhouette Brown,and many others.

He performs with long-standing group Panacea, and also in duet with Violinist Omar Puente (2004 at the Havana Inernational Jazz Fest), solo , and trio.


His band Panacea first performed in 2000 and had their first release on the Dune Label in 2001 - 'Voyager'.Two releases are planned for 2006 - both in duet with the fantastic Cuban Violinist Omar Puente - and solo - the Equinox project (nominated for best new work BBC Jazz Awards/originally a BBC Radio 3-Jerwood Commision ). He has also performed in over 30 countries.
