This is a collection of beautifully crafted songs, combining the exquisite words of Carol Ann Duffy and the memorable compositions of Eliana Tomkins. An earthy, charged collection of rapturous, passionate love songs, delivered with subtlety and understatement. Tomkins' clear, warm, succinct voice is supported by the bright energy of these superb musicians. Peter King's and Guy Barker's gorgeous solos bring an added dimension and Ralph Salmins' inspired percussion flutters and booms with the warmth of a kind spirit. This is a meld of blues, jazz and folk with pagan undertones, with some songs falling comfortably into the category of jazz, others into folk. Others are genre-defying, but all are threaded together by Eliana Tomkins' identifiable writing.
