15/02/2008 Andrew Vine, Yorkshire Post | Veteran British pianist and composer John Taylor has hit rare form in recent years. The music here, virtually all original, has the stamp of real quality, and Taylor’s performances have a depth, invention and heart that compels the attention throughout. His solos unfold to mesmerising effect, and on the two standard songs, I Loves You Porgy and In the Bleak Midwinter, Taylor finds astonishing new things to say. Bassist Palle Danielsson and drummer Martin France could not be more sympathetic in their support. Highly recommended. |
