Biography of Stephen McCarthy
Stephen McCarthy has always been heavily influenced by Tony Bennett, Chet Baker and Bobby Darin, and while he has his own unique sound these influences may explain why he is becoming known as one of the "new originals".
Stephen was born and raised in South Wales but now lives in the small village of Farncombe in Surrey. He studied in London from 1992 to 1995 and since graduating has toured extensively in the UK as well as working in London. Ranging from Trios to Big Band Stephen has enjoyed performing with a large number of musicians in a wide range of venues.
During August and September 2006 Stephen flew out to San Francisco to work with composer Phillip Putnam and Box Of Wood Music on a new recording project.
His first CD, Call Me Irresponsible, features arrangements by Steve Hill and superb playing by Frazer Snell, Chris Dagley and Adrian Revell.
