Biography of Katherine Gang

Katherine has been wowing UK audiences for the last 3 years with her passionate jazz spirit. A graduate of the Tisch School of The Arts and The Berklee College of Music, at 26 she has performed with London’s finest jazz artists. Producer/composer/arranger Richard Niles has worked in London since 1975 with an eclectic credit list that includes Paul McCartney, Cher, Tina Turner, James Brown, Westlife and Kylie. Sound on Sound called him “one of the most versatile men in modern music.” Jazz credits include work with Pat Metheny, Ray Charles, Jane Monheit, and Guy Barker. As an acclaimed broadcaster for BBC Radio 2 he has written and presented programmes since 1992.

In Katherine’s own words, “I have wanted to record Richard’s songs for ages; being so full of clever witty lyrics and challenging melodies, they spoke to me and reminded me of showtunes. I couldn’t wait to sit down and conquer these ballads of schism and blues. There is much longing in this album – longing for the past, for lost childhood, for a first love. I am happy in knowing that through brilliant collaborations, strong minds, and musical majesty, I am able to express these longings to others.”
