Biography of Silvia Bolognesi
Bassist and composer Silvia Bolognesi was born in Siena in 1974 she began playing double bass with Maestro A.Granai, attaining her diploma in 2004 at the Siena Conservatoire. After this time time she perfected her studies with Maestro Alberto Bocini. She has had experiences in classical music playing operas and symphonies with various professional orchestras. She also attended various workshops and played with the most famous italian jazz musicians as S.Battaglia, P.Dalla Porta, F.Sferra, M.Raya, P.Leveratto and foreign musicians such as Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell and Anthony Braxton. She then studied jazz bass with William Parker.
She was selected to play in the Butch Morris orchestra during XIII edition of the “Roccella Jonica” jazz festival and won scholarships in the 1998 jazz summer workshops at Siena Jazz Association. During the last years she has been performing with various musicians as: Maurizio Geri, Piero Borri, Klaus Lessman, Roberto Nannetti, Franco Santarnecchi,Alessandro Minetto,Alessandro Di Puccio, Alessandro Fabbri, Salvatore Bonafede, Piero Odorici, Pietro Tonolo, Marco Tamburini, Stefano “Cocco” Cantini, Scott Reeves, Jo Kajat, Fabio Zeppetella etc.
