Biography of Stefano Pastor

Stefano Pastor has graduated in violin and, with full marks, in Jazz. He followed his studies with Claudio Marzorati, Carlo Pozzi, Lorenzo Lugli, Piero Leveratto and attends Masters with Enrico Rava and Dave Liebman.

In 1982 wins the contest "Laboratorio Lirico Sperimerntale", and for two years he performs with "Orchestra of Teatro di Alessandria". Since then he Played in many orchestras such as the “Angelicum Symphony Orchestra” in Milano sharing the stage with important soloists and directors as Josè Carreras, Cecilia Gasdia, Simone Alaimo, Paul Badura- Skoda, Lev Markiz, Edardo Muller, Daniele Gatti, Pietro Borgonovo.

He takes part to disc recordings with Massimo De Bernard, Mauro Ceccanti, the art-rock group Picchio dal Pozzo and the popoular singer-song- writer Paolo Conte.

Between 1985 and 1987 he was at the International Master of String Quartet in Fiesole (Italy) with Piero Farulli (Quartetto Italiano). During six years he is first violin of the string quartet "Leon Battista Alberti", recording often for Italian National television (RAI) and performing live regularly.

At the present he devotes himself entirely to jazz music performing live with a lot of important jazz musicians like Piero Leveratto, Giampaolo Casati, Maurizio Gianmarco, Cristopher Culpo, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Bruno Tommaso, Luciano Milanese, Nando De Luca, Mauro Negri, Alberto Tacchini and Mario Raja.

In 2004 he publishes the CD as leader “Una Notte in Italia” for the Italian label Videoradio obteining the favour of Italian and European critics. In the same year he is assistant at orchestra director Mario Raja at the clinics of Siena Jazz School.

He takes part, as soloist, to a live recording in celebrating the 160th year of foundation of the “Filarmonica Sestrese” Band in the prestigious “Carlo Felice Theater” in Genova.

In 2005 wins second prize at the prestigious “Rassegna Giovani Musicisti” in Cervo (Italy) and is finalist at “International Arranging and Composition Competition for Jazz Orchestra” with a work on Wayne Shorter, soloist Claudio Fasoli.

In 2006 he publishes the second CD as leader named Transmutations, by the English label Slam Productions. The review of musical research called “Suono Sonda” publishes a work written by Stefano Pastor and the poetess Erika Dagnino entitled “Cicli”.

He devotes himself to teaching from many years.
