The 14 piece band comprises some well known players in contemporary British jazz and some who doubtless will be in the future. It includes Mark Lockheart on tenor sax, ex-Loose Tubes, leader of his own Scratch Band and Big Idea and a much respected player currently with Polar Bear. Rob Townsend on alto sax plays in both of Mark’s bands and with Richard Fairhurst’s Hungry Ants. John Eacott another ex-Loose Tubes member currently plays trumpet with hKippers. Mark Bassey on trombone is a regular sideman with Julian Arguelles and architect of Bassey plays Basie, Drummer Jim Hart runs his own band Gemini and is currently vibes player with Christian Brewer. Other members of the band are drawn from the wilder fringes of classical music, some are still studying and all are fine working musicans. |
