"Talented musicians playing entertaining and inspiring new jazz pieces..." Emma Hickman - Royal Albert Hall
On the day of the 2–1 series win for England (for the first time since 1987 in their biennial attempt to win the urn), the Ashes Quartet was born. After a hugely successful tour of Germany in September 2005, they were invited to record at Backyard Studios in the beautiful town of Beyreuth. The result was the album 'Meeting' which was launched in May 2006 at London’s 606 Club.

19/07/0007 Emma Hickman - Royal Albert Hall | 'The Ashes Quartet are talented musicians playing entertaining and inspiring new jazz pieces - fantastic performers!'
emma hickman RAH | 01/07/0007 Keith Ames - Musician | Melting Sounds This English/Australian quartet is made up of Jonty Fisher on double bass, guitarist Adam Starr, Frank Walden on sax and drummer Darryn Farrugia. Recorded over two days in Beyreuth, the album is a fluid introduction to their easy-going approach, which makes for relaxed listening as opener Small Town gently slides it's way into your consciousness. Most promising. |
