Biography of Sarah Bennett
The Sarah Bennett Quintet regularly performs at jazz festivals and jazz venues nationally. Sarah's main influences are Norma Winstone, Blossom Dearie, Karen Carpenter, Maria Pia de Vito, June Christy, Dusty Springfield and Anita O’Day. SBQ is generally influenced by Azimuth, Acoustic Triangle and EST. In 2006 SBQ played Brecon, Manchester, Teignmouth and Southport Jazz Festivals.
Two tracks from the band’s first CD, Willow's Song, featured on Best of Jazz in November 2002 and on Jazz Record Requests in January 2004.
CDs to date: 2001, "Willow's Song", a mix of standards, contemporary jazz pieces and Latin numbers. The title track, "Willow's Song", featured in the 1973 English cult film, "The Wicker Man". The 2006 release, "The Astronomer's Guest", comprises all original pieces by Chris Bennett which feature the voice as an instrumental accompaniment.
