Biography of Hellmullersisera

Franz Hellmüller (guitar) and Luca Sisera (bass) first became acquainted during their studies at the Musikhochschule Luzern. An intensive musical collaboration followed numerous masterclasses and workshops in which they developed their shared musical language. These were taken with high-caliber musicians/educators such as Nat Su, Christy Doran, Heiri Känzig, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ed Neumeister, Jamey Haddad, Mark Turner, Maria Schneider, Hans Feigenwinter, etc.

During and after their studies, the two musicians have also collaborated in their own musical formations, such as the trio H2S Hellmüller-Stulz-Sisera (Hellmüller’s prize-winning Diploma Concert, played also at the Jazz Festival La Ciotat), Slam Slang (Sisera’s prize-winning Diploma Concert), Lisette Spinnler feat. H2S, Lisette Spinnler Sextet, Knecht (Jonas Knecht’s quintet, including the CD “Echt”), Lemming (Isa Wiss’s trio), Pascal Galeone Trio, Oded Ben-Horin, Valentin Kessler (Tango Alpino, Filmmusik for National Swiss Television), Marco Todisco (Cantautore Italiano).

Hellmüller and Sisera have played over 200 concerts together. This lengthy cooperation and the shared experience does not go unnoticed when one witnesses their music-making. These two musicians understand each other without the need for words.
The musical genres played range from original compositions to freely improvised music or jazz standards. The focal point is not a specific style or the interpretation of any one composer, but rather the musical path of the material at hand. The music exists in a natural form, unlimited, always in the moment. Improvisation is the priority, the music constantly being newly invented. Themes and musical ideas are always being newly interpreted. The goal is pleasure, fun, and an affinity for music. Music that happens.
