Appearances by John Law |
Composition based free jazz. Generally regarded as the best JL Quartet recording, this final recording sums up Jon’s ideas in this musical area. Although the earlier group featured Paul Rogers, who left in 1995, this CD represents the culmination of six years of work with the quartet. The pieces here range from freebop to abstract. Always energetic, always intelligent.
Personnel: Lloyd, alto and soprano saxophone, John Law, piano, Tim Wells, bass, Mark Sanders, drums.
Recorded 1996 at Gateway Studios, London.
Released 1997 as hat ART CD 6198
