Just as "Vague Nouvelle" was a tribute the Blue Note era of the 50's, this second opus mainly celebrates the mid-60's music with tunes inspired by John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and Charles Mingus . A collection of original compositions oscillating between contemporary jazz, hard-bop and latin, concluded by the 5 parts epic Jazz Pilgrimage Suite. "Thesaurus" features Don Stuart on flute and Alto flute along regular JHQ members Nick Haseman (tpt), Mal Rouse (saxes), Richard Sadler (bass) and Chris Nickolls (drums). |
