Biography of Neil Yates
Trading a very successful career as a London jazz and session musician for the freedom of life in a small caravan touring festivals in Britain and Ireland Yates found a way to embrace his own cultural heritage and broaden the jazz vocabulary. Described as "a true musical polymath" his music is a fresh and unforced new sound in jazz, deriving melodic and rhythmic intensity from Celtic music.
Yates was Chosen for Serious Productions/Jerwood Foundation's "Take 5 Initiative" 2006 and winner of the Jazz Services "Promoter's Choice" Award 2006/07
