The piano-drums duo is an association that provides the musicians with enormous liberty. This formula, not at all common, allows to obtain « classical » structures (metronomic tempos, cyclical micro-forms, ...) of jazz and offers the possibilty to model certain parametres (harmony, form, tempo, ...).
The two instruments are played solo and the drums, normally used as a « tempo guarantee » in the more traditional formations, here occupy an entire place of its own and can therefore express itself freely. The role of the drums changes and allows to discover a more « lyrical » side of this instrument.
