Pius Baschnagel’s music, original compositions and visions came to light for the first time on this CD „Motions and Emotions“. With the new band „Influences“ he is fully able to manifest what moves and embosses him: Influences from his surroundings. Whether original compositions or arrangements, he combines elements from Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Funk with innate ease and intelligence.
Groove mellifluous tones and unison passages, set the podium for creative interplay, improvisations and provocative statements.
The players tend towards structures that leave plenty of room for free expression and interaction without losing the bare essentials. Featured alongside Pius are Jean-Paul Brodbeck on piano and reed man Reto Suhner, two young prominent Swiss giants and long time cohort on bass the vastly experienced Leon Duncan.
After over ten years active as a side-man in small formations to Big Bands, or as leader of the renowned salsa formation „Convergencia“, Pius Baschnagel has once again succeeded in putting a band together that’s bound to turn heads.
