This album is a re-release of an album that was originally released on Vinyl in 1987. During its production the saddening news emerged that Pete Jacobsen, the British pianist who had made such a telling contribution to the session, had died at the age of 51 on April 29th 2002.
In his original notes on the album Dave Lewis confirmed that Peter Jacobsen was "a seasoned and sensitive musician of world class". Lewis's judgement of 14 years previously was certainly reaffirmed - but mingled with regrets that the reputation of such a gifted and supportive performer should have remained so modest.
Hi Fly features Pete King on alto sax, Pete Jacobsen on piano, Ricardo del Fra on bass, Philippe Briand on drums and Jakez Moreau on congas. |
