Reviews of Olivia Moore
09/07/2009 Chris Long, BBC Manchester | Delicate and considered, Olivia Moore’s music is the sound of swelled tranquillity and gentle drama. It may be a little too free-wheeling for some tastes, but approached with an open mind, her obvious joy in playing swells through her impassioned but restrained violin and offers her audience both an emotional and a cerebral fulfilment.
| 10/11/2008 Al Brownlee, City Life. | Nourished by Indian and jazz traditions, but with an elegance that comes from her classical training, Olivia Moore’s violin has an Eastern tang that is genuinely entrancing.Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, she reaches for a heavenly sound, and attains it in Hans Dwani and Amitabha.Whereas Burning Bush has the sprightly playfulness of Penguin Cafe Orchestra. The versatile Stuart McCallum keeps it organic and spacious on acoustic and electric guitars. Jon Thorne typically straddles world and jazz, whilst the interplay between percussionist Adam Warne and the leader dazzles.By the time of the closing incantation May All Beings, union with the Great Spirit has been accomplished. |
