Reviews of Natalie Williams

29/08/2013 Pru Fiddy, Jazz FM

I first met the lovely Natalie during our Boisdale Discovery shows last year, and was not only impressed by her gorgeous soulful voice, but indeed her down to earth, warm personality that shines through both when you meet her and hear her perform. Being a massive fan of Incognito I had heard Natalie perform live with them at Ronnie Scotts previously and instantly loved her unique and sultry tone, and her lashings of sexy style
.
Fast forward to late summer 2013 and it's time for Natalie to launch her brand new album ‘Where You Are’ to be released at the end of October this year.

If you haven't been to Pizza Express Jazz before, (I still have people saying to me Jazz? Pizza Express? No way!) Well yes way and it's the best combination by far!! It's in the basement of the Soho restaurant, and its dark, dim-lit intimate surroundings, ooze that necessary atmosphere required for jazz lovers.

Looking her gorgeous, radiant self as always, Natalie sang two sets of tracks including covers and original music from the album, and not only made the audience feel happy and uplifted throughout the evening, but even had us doing backing vocals! This was to the delight of Natalie’s strong army of fans who were there to support her (or Nat-Nuts as they are endearingly called!).

Her inimitable sweet soulful voice sailed along her first release of the album (out now) 'Little Girl, Little Girl’, which is a fabulous, ridiculously catchy song that ever since I have had stuck in my head! And many other highlights, which for me were the title track ‘Where you are’, ‘Immortal’ and her cover of Norah Jones’ ‘Sunrise’. All of Natalie’s songs seem to have a theme: her music is melodic, sweet, engaging and her voice is simply divine.

You can see Natalie for yourself every month at Ronnie Scotts with her Soul Family Sunday Show, and there will be another launch of the album once it’s released at Ronnie’s on 17th November during the London Jazz Festival. Natalie kicks off a spring tour next year on Feb 6th at Band on the Wall in Manchester.
